Dr. Smart completed the combined General Surgery/Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training program at Massachusetts General Hospital and was responsible for teaching third year medical students in trauma, emergency and general surgery principles during surgical rotation. Dr. Smart did an additional 2 years training in Head & Neck Oncology and Micro-vascular Reconstructive Surgery at Louisiana State University. He is Board Certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Dr. Smart’s Clinical practice includes full scope Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with an interest in the treatment of diseases of the head and neck region as well as reconstructive surgery. Dr. Smart has co-authored chapters and articles pertinent to the field of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Head & Neck Oncology. Outside of work Dr. Smart enjoys sparring in jiu-jitsu but most importantly spending time with his wife and two children.
